Sara Weir, Head of Arts and Culture Strategy, ODA: Hello, I’m Sarah Weir. I’m Head of Arts and Culture Strategy at the Olympic Delivery Authority. I’m standing on the Greenway, which is a walkway and cycle path in east London, with probably the very best view of the Olympic Park. And I’m here for the opening of the View Tube. Shall we go inside and have a look? Come with me.

The View Tube is right next to the Olympic Park, so not only do you get a superb view of the Stadium and the Aquatics, but you can see all the other latest developments on the Park as they happen.

This morning I’m opening View Tube, which is a wonderful resource for local people. It’s got a really good café and I can testify to that because I’ve asked people and they’ve said the coffee is really good, but importantly, we’ve got a lot of young people here as well from local schools.

I really like it and I think it’s a good experience for children. I know loads of my friends would like to be here instead of me!

I think people who come here will just be inspired by the scale of what is taking place here and will get a sense of why this is the biggest sporting event that the world will ever see at any given time.

The View Tube is being run by a variety of local organisations, mainly for people living nearby, but also for visitors from further away. So if you want to get involved and know what’s going on with the London 2012 Games, come down now.
