For example, we need 200,000 temporary seats and something like 220,000 square metres of temporary tents. I look after the procurement process for LOCOG's venues and this year is a busy one for us. We have had a huge amount of interest from suppliers who are keen to be involved in the Games. This really is a fantastic opportunity for the events industry.

We currently have several large tender packages in progress. These include the supply and installation of items such as tents, temporary seating, portable buildings and toilets, plus temporary power generation and distribution. We've also issued tenders for the provision of project-management services for all of LOCOG's temporary venues and overlay.

We will be awarding these contracts this summer, and there will then be a rolling programme of procurement continuing until early 2011. Tenders are planned for items such as trackway, fencing, barriers, lifts, site works, fit-out works joinery and many more.

Any supplier who is keen to benefit from these opportunities can register their interest through CompeteFor
