This was also my first chance to see the Olympic Park since building began, and it was a real eye opener to see just how much work has been done on constructing the new venues. Although the venues are almost next door to each other, I was struck by the size of the whole project - it's like a small town is being built from scratch.
The atmosphere will be fantastic for both athletes and spectators alike and I encourage everyone to try and get tickets - it will be an absolutely amazing thing to be a part of.
We had a guided tour of the Olympic Village too, where construction is also well underway. As athletes, so much time is spent in the Village during the Games that it is crucial that you feel at home, so a lot of effort is going into making sure the athletes' needs are met. The Village is being built right next to the Olympic Park and being so close will make the experience of living there very special.
It was interesting to hear about all the work that is going on in terms of athlete services for the Games and I look forward to working with the Athletes' Committee over the next two years to make the London Games great for the athletes.
