The Dorset coast is a beautiful place from its fossil-filled cliffs and exceptional marine life, breath-taking views from the South West coast path or simply enjoying an afternoon on Weymouth beach with an ice-cream!
Its unique environment has been recognised and it has perhaps one of the most protected coastlines in the country; a natural World Heritage Site and internationally important geology and wetlands. It is against this panoramic backdrop that we will stage the Olympic and Paralympic Sailing events in 2012.
The Partnership is keen to take on the sustainability challenge by producing their own plan for the Games, based upon the London 2012 Sustainability Plan. This is something we are actively encouraging and we hope that they can illustrate how the Games will be an opportunity to showcase their unique natural heritage as an economic driver, providing a positive legacy from the 2012 Games in the South West.
