For the third day in a row, as I leave London and head north, the sun comes out. The Mirror Ball is therefore particularly splendid opposite the Solaris Centre where Portable Pixel Playground is in full swing. Particularly striking is a piece by Squidsoup where centipedes of light play on your hand or in the sand, responding to contours and obstacles like any normal centipede. The sound sculpture which passed as the most insane bouncy castle you've ever seen kept children of all ages occupied.

On Friday night, 50,000 people flocked to the Promenade for spectacular fireworks and lighting effects on the world-famous Blackpool Tower for Open Weekend. The UK's Capital of Fun has thrown itself wholeheartedly into Open Weekend. What will the next 4 years bring?
