We want local people and residents to be able to take full advantage of having the Equestrian and Modern Pentathalon events in Greenwich. Hosting these events in an iconic location will mean showcasing Greenwich and London to the world in 2012. It will also allow athletes and the events to take place close to the Olympic Park which will only be approximately 8km away.
Many of the people we spoke to on Sunday were concerned that the Park will be closed in the lead up to the Games. However this will not be the case, most of the Park will remain open during construction periods, for safety reasons some sections of the Park will be cordoned off when we need to install some elements of the venue. We will certainly be keeping local residents and business owners informed as our plans are developed.
Our attendance at this event marked the start of our communications with local residents, and business owners in Greenwich. We will be attending a number of local drop in sessions, environmental forums and exhibitions in the coming months in order to provide information on our plans to use Greenwich Park.
