Spreading the word to young people
Danielle, Young Ambassador
The aim of the Young Ambassadors’ Programme is to create a network of young people (aged 14-19) each year who, acting as positive role models, spread the Olympic and Paralympic message and ideals, increase participation and promote healthy active lifestyl

I am taking some time out from my studies and I was fortunate enough for my local schools partnership to employ me and become the mentor for our team. My role now is to still promote the Young Ambassadors and attend meetings where needed but it is to ensure that within our partnership all the ambassadors are at major events and if they have any queries or questions, they can approach me. In addition to this, I am also helping them to promote the London 2012 Get Set website which we are trying to get all the schools in our partnership to use as I find it can be very useful.

I also had the opportunity to go to LOCOG for a shadow day which I found really interesting and I didn’t realise how much goes on behind the scenes. It was great to listen in on some meetings, especially the one about the Get Set website as I am helping to develop our partnership website.
