At least for a few moments, the London 2012 event valiantly grabbed some attention as the team discussed 2012 opportunities across sport, business, arts, volunteering and education with the small gathering of MPs and their researchers, with each attendee having their photograph taken with Olympian Jonathan Edwards. After the MPs had their photos taken, it was nice to also have my photo taken with Jonathan.
The hard work doesn't stop once the show is over: we have now distributed the photographs with Jonathan to all the MPs, to help them use their consistency websites and local media contacts to get the 2012 story out to people across the region. To boost turnout next time, perhaps we should ask Joanna Lumley to come along?
