So what's been going on? Well, from what people have been telling me the celebrations for 3 years to go until our Olympic Opening Ceremony have been varied, well-attended, often on the barking side of rational and great, great fun.
There were dance pieces based on the great British tradition of making tea in Woking and basketball courts turned into temporary art galleries in Weybridge.
Rochester Airport had a buzzing open day and there was tango in the streets of Penrith along with street theatre.
Four thousand pipers gathered on the banks of the Clyde and there were drumming workshops at Rich Mix in London
Squirrels, foxes, cats, rats, a polar bear, a reindeer nicknamed Seb Doe, a fabulous turkey and chicken and a dog reminiscent of The Animal Crackers competed for plastic gold medals in Southampton.
We had bells on our fingers as young traditional Indian dancers performed and talked with a large crowd at Northern Ireland Stories of the World Open Weekend event - in the sun!
Sport phobics were being cured and getting active thanks to the LoveSport Exhibition at New Walk Museum.
Hindu gods meeting Transformers in Durham attracted a crowd as did a ruthless instructor putting the performers through their gym routines, trying to perform a 'haka' in the 'Knickers and Vests' project in Coventry.
Crowds of children and parents made the most of opera, mask making and jazz workshops in Handsworth, Birmingham.
Over 60 people declared themselves 'one of Obama’s people' at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
Plenty signed up for Junk Percussion with children, their parents and a borough councillor in Broxbourne, home of the White Water Canoeing venue for 2012
Hundreds of dancers of all ages, shapes and sizes performed a routine inspired by sports such as synchronised swimming, tai kwan-do and basketball.
300 people enjoyed Scratch'n'Sniff Gregory's Girl at the Live Site in Festival Square Edinburgh (number 7 was picked onions after all that)
The queue to start the long process of becoming the next Mark Foster or Rebecca Adlington is now snaking a long way down the street after the launch at Corby's new swimming pool.
And all that's barely scratching the surface of what's been going on this weekend. My particular thanks go to the architect who volunteered, at very late notice, to be a penguin at Gregory's Girl. His job was to hold up the relevant number of the circle on the card to be scratched and sniffed at the right moment. Without him we could have had strawberry lip gloss when we should have had boys' toilets. Only at London 2012 Open Weekend? Bring on next year.
