Louis, Olympic gymnast
Proud to be a role model for a 'greener' future

Since we returned from Beijing, things don't seem to have stopped for me. The public support for Team GB has been immense and this was evident in the fantastic reception we received during the open-top bus tour through the streets of London. Media interes

As well as trying my hand at presenting on a vodcast, which will be accessible to schools via 'The Pod' website, I'm delighted to be a judge for the inaugural EDF Energy Awards for Greener Schools alongside Paralympic gold medallist Liz Johnson and TV presenter, Gethin Jones.

This forms part of the wider Schools Programme and aims to celebrate teachers, pupils and schools who have made significant change to their energy and water use and inspired others to follow their example.

For the launch photocall, I had to demonstrate my gymnastic skills in the school playground by vaulting over a recycle bin! It was great fun but I don't think I'll be swapping it for the pommel horse just yet!

As you can see in the background, the school we visited, Frith Manor School in Barnet, North London, already has a wind turbine up and running and it was great to see the kids getting so involved and learning about climate change at such a young age. As an Olympic athlete, I'm proud to act as a role model and ambassador for today's schoolchildren and use the power of the London 2012 Games as an inspiration for young people to create a lasting legacy long after the Games have ended.

As Olympic athletes, we have a responsibility to set positive examples and I can't wait to reward those schools who are making a real difference and taking imaginative approaches to tackling climate change.
