Olympic gold-medal winner Jonathan Edwards and ODA Chairman John Armitt planted a large 20 year old oak tree in the centre of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Olympic Park Great British Garden with Hannah Clegg (11), who won the young people's section, and Rachel Read, who won the adult category.
The competition was to design the quarter of an acre garden next to the Olympic Stadium.
