The Village and apartments will now be fitted out, ready to welcome athletes and officials from around the world. Four-time Olympic gold medallist Matthew Pinsent helped carry the first of more than 16,000 beds that will be installed.

Today also saw details of the Opening Ceremony released. School children from the six east London host boroughs have been involved in auditions for the London 2012 Ceremonies Mass Movement Team. More than 900 children will be selected over the coming weeks to perform in the Opening Ceremony,  on July 27.

Artistic Director Danny Boyle also revealed the name of the show will be 'Isles of Wonder', inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest.

World Sports Day announcement

Earlier this week, plans were announced at the Copper Box for schoolchildren across the UK to take part in 'World Sport Day'. Taking place on 25 June, the event will see thousands of young people take part in sporting and cultural activities to celebrate the athletes and nations of the world.

That's it for another week, enjoy your weekend whatever you do!
