Paralympic qualities

I have never thought that being severely disabled could bring so many opportunities. We have a great deal to learn from all the Beijing Paralympic competitors. They seem to have chosen some of the hardest lifestyles in the world because not only do they h

In the Beijing Paralympic games some of the people we can learn from include the swimmers Ellie Simmonds and Gareth Duke the swimmers, and the wheelchair track athlete, David Weir.

All Olympians need to have the following qualities but Paralympians show them even more; determination to keep on going when you are finding training hard, and strong will to always train. Strength is from the mind as well as the body. Being confident helps to give you more desire to win.

Gareth Duke is a good example of determination because he has kidney problems and has had dialysis whilst in Beijing and has still managed to win medals in the pool. Ellie Simmonds is the youngest team GB member ever to be a gold medallist at the age of 13 which is an amazing achievement. David Weir has overcome glandular fever to be at the Paralympics and has still won medals. All these things would be difficult for anyone to get through but for these sports people, they have shown even greater determination to overcome these hurdles.

I have learned that even if you are disabled you can still take part in a whole range of sports and on a world wide scale. And next time I feel like I can`t do something, I will not give up because I have seen all the Paralympians do so many inspiring things.
