This Sunday will mark 2012 days until the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympic Games, giving today’s visit from the British Paralympic Association (BPA) added significance.

The purpose of the visit was to inform their small professional staff (fewer than 25) of the activities of the London 2012 Organising Committee – with particular emphasis on the Paralympics.

As key stakeholders, these staff will be working day-in, day-out with athletes, coaches and administrators preparing to be part of the British team in both Beijing and 2012.

Exciting them and providing them with some insight into the project, will give us an important set of advocates out in the sporting community.

The message of integration was reinforced by our innovative ideas for drawing the two Games together.

Presentations over, it was off to the 'al fresco' viewing point at the top of Stratford Shopping centre car park. Despite the best efforts of the British weather, the project was brought to life for those first time visitors as the scale of the site became apparent.

Members of the team who had been in Athens were complimentary that the compact nature of our Park and Village will be hugely helpful for Paralympians.

The feedback on the visit we have received was very positive – in particular comments were made how “Olympic AND Paralympic” now appears to be part of the London 2012 language.

This is seen as a step forward for the Paralympic movement and the integration of all aspects of 2012 will have an impact on future Games.
