Our education plans to inspire
Nick, Head of Education
Our ambition is for London 2012 to use the power of the Games to inspire change by delivering a memorable Games that provide experiences of a lifetime, capturing the imagination of young people all over the world, and by creating physical, social and spor

We need to create a Values-based programme of activity that will run from 2008 through to 2012 - reaching and engaging children and young people, locally in the 5 host borough, across London, across the UK and internationally.

With our partners and stakeholders we can work with schools, colleges and universities. The Education programme will be delivered in three strands. Strand one is Handover. This will include; Welcoming the World, Who Do We Think We Are, and Paralympic Handover activity. Strand two will be the domestic education programme starting in autumn 2008 and onwards. And strand three – the one planet education programme.

More information on the three strands can be found in the education section of this website.

You will see that the domestic education programme will provide schools and colleges with resources based on a number of themes including culture and creativity.

We are committed to working with a wide range of partners to take culture and creativity into schools - working with Art Council England to ensure opportunities are available and accessible to young people as well as art colleges in devolved administrations. We will be involved in the ‘World Festival of Youth Culture’ and working with Visa to develop the arts programme for Visa Olympics of the Imagination. More information about these programmes will be available soon. We will also be looking at Practical learning, Healthy Active Lifestyles, Internationalism, Citizenship, PE and Sport, Enterprise, Sustainability and Regeneration.
