In the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Usain Bolt amazed the world by breaking the 200m world record with a time of 19.30 on his way to the gold medal.

Sixty years earlier in the London 1948 Olympic Games, Arthur Wint of Jamaica won the semi-final of the 400m, with Morris Curotta of Australia (left) coming second and Mal Whitfield (right) of the USA third. Arthur Wint went on to win the final.
