We made sure they all found out about potential Pre-Games Training Camps, business opportunities, and cultural and education plans – together with the other initiatives being pioneered by the North East London 2012 team- represented on the night by Peter Rowley, Chair of the Regional Sports Board and Tanya Gray from One North East. Almost on cue, Minister for the Olympics Rt Hon Tessa Jowell MP arrived to add a bit of Ministerial pizzazz to the event.
Most MPs stayed for a long time discussing all sorts of issues with Olympian Jonathan Edwards, the 2012 team and our host for the night, Dari Taylor MP. After a glass of wine or (sustainable) water, we all headed off into the night thinking about what the Games will mean to people from across the North East.
