Yesterday was a 'best speaking voice' day, beginning by warming up with a presentation about the Olympic Transport Plan at the Building Centre, where the London's Moving exhibition is running breakfast time talks 'from leading figures' - and more to the point tea and buns were on offer…
Then I was off to see Commissioner for Transport Peter Hendy and his team at Transport for London, discussing the huge range of investment projects to be put in place before 2012 around London and the Olympic Park.
The present Stratford station will be transformed and just to the north will be the International station we shall use for the high-speed Javelin rail service at Games time. There's a lot to do, but the transport infrastructure programmes are on track (excuse the pun) and all key infrastructure will be in place by the end of 2010.
Well warmed up, I was off to the House of Commons, where I appeared with London 2012 colleagues before the Transport Select Committee to answer questions about our first draft of the same Olympic Transport Plan.
The timing was good because we are consulting with hundreds of stakeholders about the draft Plan at the moment. After more than an hour of questions – covering at least 20 topics – Wednesday felt like a long but productive day.
