The Live Sites are proving an important part of the Vancouver experience. Just before the start of the Games, the Olympic Torch arrived downtown when some 10,000 very excited Canadians gathered to greet it at the big city live site – LiveCity Vancouver Yaletown / Ville Vivante (we’re bilingual here). There were dancers, choirs, fireworks, lights and watershows in a spectacular urban setting with the city as a backdrop to the waterfront site.
Indeed, the Torch had been winding its way round Vancouver for a few days, stopping at the Live Sites now entertaining thousands during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Richmond, Surrey and West Vancouver.
I'm here to help
deliver the programme and see what happens on Live Sites at Games time. For the moment, I belong to the City of Vancouver and it's great to be
part of it. The experience will certainly inform how we approach our own Live Sites back in the UK - now and right through the 2012 Games.
