London 2012 ceramics contract

Something I’ve learned in the seven months I’ve been managing licensing here at London 2012 is that the Games rumour mill could probably give Usain Bolt a run for his money with the speed it turns. This week has seen a couple of stories in the papers conc

I can say with absolute certainty that this isn’t the case – yes, we’ve made a couple of small scale mug orders overseas, but we haven’t awarded any ceramics contract to anyone yet.

We will be issuing a tender for this around 2010 and we will be looking for suppliers of a wide range of china, porcelain and related products. This will be done via our standard “Compete For” procedure - an open procurement process which can be accessed via the website.

There will be many opportunities for UK companies to get involved in all aspects of the London Games in the next few years – in fact over 98% of the contracts issued by London 2012 have, to date, gone to UK companies. When we do release this opportunity, I'm sure a number of British companies will be interested in talking to us - and we'll be just as keen to talk to them.
