I am also looking forward to working with a variety of organisations to develop the various strands of the programme. It looks like I will be leading on the ‘healthy and active living’ strand, the ‘sport’ strand and ‘practical learning’ - so at least the work will be varied. These work areas make sense in the context of me being seconded from the Youth Sport Trust, although I am disappointed not to be using the knowledge that I gained from my Geography Degree, for the first time since I left University! It’s a real privilege to be working here and I’m the envy of my friends and family back in Devon. Like so many other people, I had my Olympic moment as a child, watching the Games on TV. At that point, I vowed that I would get to an Olympic Games. The only glitch in my dream was my lack of talent in any Olympic sports! However, the dream stayed with me and eventually I fulfilled it by going as a volunteer to Athens and working in spectator services at the Shooting Venue. It was a fantastic experience and now I’m here! The dream continues…
