Yesterday saw the launch of the first 'adiZone' in Wellington Green, Tower Hamlets by Beijing Gold Medallist Christine Ohuruogu. Despite the drizzly grey weather, the impressive brightly coloured adiZone shone. This adiZone in Tower Hamlets will be joined
Each giant multi-sport zone includes a variety of exciting activities including a climbing wall, basketball ring, outdoor gym and mini amphitheatre for dance, aerobics and gymnastics. Each activity has instructions on how the equipment is to be used properly and safely plus details on local clubs where skills can be honed further. Who knows, a budding Olympic champion could emerge!
Christine was joined by a group of local school children who were thrilled to meet their local hero and also have the opportunity to touch her Beijing gold medal, a definite highlight for them on only their second day of the new school year!
adidas has made a significant long term commitment to this project with each adiZone designed to last for atleast 20 years. Importantly, these zones are open 365 days a year and are free to use with activities suitable for young people both able and disabled.
If initial feedback from some local residents who happened to wander past the area during the launch is any indication, the adiZones will be a valuable and well used new asset to the area.
