Yesterday was an opportunity to engage with a range of members and representative of the landscape industry in my new role as Project Sponsor for Parklands and Public Realm.
I took up the post just a week ago after many years in private practice and hope to bring to bear my experience of working with both public and private sectors, and with the landscape construction industry.
There was a real buzz at the Industry Day, appropriately held at Kew Gardens, and it was good to catch up with colleagues from the past and, hopefully, have met colleagues for the future.
The industry representatives were really interested in our current plans and proposals for the Parklands and how we are going to procure the different packages of work to deliver them.
It was clear from the conversations I had following the Q & A session that the people really understand the challenge of building an amazing Olympic Park for the Games and afterwards and are already coming up with ideas for how we can make this a truly exemplary project.
