Journalists tour Olympic Park
David, ODA Chief Executive
Last week, Paul Deighton and myself took a group of journalists to Stratford for a bus tour around the Olympic Park. What was a largely derelict industrial area, and is now a huge construction site, will be transformed into one of the largest urban parks

This is all investment in the longterm regeneration of the area as these are the utilities that will not only help power the Games, but the homes and businesses in the Olympic Park after 2012.

Journalists who had been to the site last year commented on how the landscape is changing. This is a huge project with a fixed deadline - twice the size of Heathrow Terminal 5 to be completed in half the time – and the site will continue to change and evolve on a daily basis. By the start of the Beijing Games, the vast majority of it will be cleared and cleaned and ready for the start of construction.
