Hullabaloo at Ballymena Library
Ballymena Library staff
Friday 26th September 2008 saw the arrival of Hullabaloo, the Children's Interactive Theatre Company, to Ballymena Central Library in Northern Ireland. At 6.30 pm the children's section was packed with eager children, mostly in the three to ten age range,

This was a show which had all the ingredients guaranteed to capture the attention and imagination of the young audience: a clear and lively introduction, a well known classic story - Peter Pan - suitable for both boys and girls, and an excellent narrator.

There were numerous colourful props, including puppets to represent the main characters and there was much audience participation by the children in the form of songs and responses. Parents and grandparents didn't need too much persuasion to release the 'inner child' and join in as well!

Some children took the opportunity to dress up as the main characters, an experience which they clearly enjoyed. Some of them were even persuaded by the narrator to speak short lines 'into the mike' which they did with great enthusiasm to the applause of the audience.

This was a truly 'interactive' presentation and a great introduction for lots of children to the excitement of a live theatrical performance.
