Getting arty for the London 2012 Gardens
Carlo, local resident
Recently the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) ran an public consultation art workshop at Hackney Wick Community Centre for local residents. The aim of the day was to look at potential creative ideas for the London 2012 Gardens. So there I am, 9.30am, thin

Problem was, Sarah the ODA Head of Arts and Culture was coming in the afternoon and if our ideas were going to make it, we had models to build (me?!) and a pitch to prepare. Get me the scissors, a felt-tip and some sticky back plastic, quick! Let’s start ‘visualising’!

Won’t bore you with all the details, but three top-drawer pitches from each group and one very impressed Sarah later, we’re now waiting to hear whose idea is going to make it into reality. For my money, it has to be us, but then what do I know about art?
