This morning I spoke at a ‘London's Business Gears up for 2012' conference, alongside Tessa Jowell, Ken Livingstone and ODA colleagues. It was a rare treat to be at the Arsenal Stadium on a Monday morning rather than an (invariably cold) Saturday afternoon: the atmosphere was certainly different. It was an appropriate venue for the conference too, as an example of a fantastic UK sports venue built on time and to budget.
The conference participants - from all walks of business - were rightly very enthusiastic about the Games: they really understand that London 2012 will provide exceptional opportunities for businesses, in the run-up to, during and for many years after the Games. Delivering the Games successfully will also create a powerful advertisement to the world about the strength of UK business.
People were also interested in our approach of a ‘one stop shop’ on the London 2012 website (london2012.com/business), providing them with access to the information, tools and skills they need to help them make the most of these business opportunities.
