When they first mentioned work experience at my school, my first reaction was, 'oh great, two weeks of wasting my time doing a boring job I will never want to do in the future', but then I thought about it again. I thought, 'why not try and get a good pla

At this point the nerves set it, everybody walking past seemed so smart and important how on earth was a school kid like me going to fit it, but all these nerves where shattered when I was greeted by Bev and the rest of the communications team.

Everyone seemed so friendly and happy to help me which I really appreciated.

On my first day I was shown around and introduced to lots of people whose names I desperately tried to remember but didn’t really work, I did get better at peoples names near the end of the week however.

I then worked in Community relations with Neil, helping edit a PowerPoint presentation he needed to present later in the week.

Getting home that day I couldn’t wait to talk to my friends about their work experience but all their placements seemed to be really boring and it looked like I was the only one who couldn’t wait to get back to work the next day.

Tuesday I worked with the press team, this was really interesting and useful. We went to a meeting to meet a team of advertisers for the culture launch. It was good to find out how things worked.

Day 3 I was with the internal communications team. I went with Alex to a meeting about merchandise then helped update the staff list on the intranet by chasing up people around the office which a camera.

The next day was a press conference, it seemed surreal that these where the kinds of things you would see on TV yet I was sitting there with all the journalists.

Then it was supposed to be off to Westminster however I managed to miss the car and end up on my own at Westminster tube station.

So after a few phone calls with Bev, who had been desperately trying to contact Jon's phone all to no avail as his phone had been taken at the House of Lords, I headed back to Canary Wharf and finished off my fourth day.

On Friday it was off to Arsenal FC to watch Neil perform the presentation I had helped him with on the first day.

The stadium itself was very impressive and Neil’s speech was very good to I even got name checked and praise from the organiser, just for organising a few slides!

After a good weekend of mainly sleeping I was ready to go to start another week of work. On Monday it was back to Westminster, which I managed successfully to get to this time! Jon and I watched a discussion in the House of Commons.

It was all really interesting as I’d never been there before, especially the rather strange march they did before they all when in.

On Tuesday I worked with Lisa organising the events for the Roadshow Tour, this was really interesting and helped me gain a few helpful Excel skills and learn about all the steps you need to go through for things like that to be arranged.

Nations and Regions was on Wednesday in which I helped Helen organise her calendar of events for the culture events throughout the year, this was also really useful for my Excel skills.

Thursday was Media and the Web, this meant working again with Alex. At first we went to a meeting about online merchandise which was really interesting and then had a discussion about social networking, myspace - my specialty!

Friday was left for me to finish my blog, then was taken out to lunch by Bev, as it was my last day.

I'd just like to say a huge thanks to everyone in the Comms team: it was a really amazing and interesting experience.
