Here at the seaside, LOCOG and ODA worked closely together to host a series of high-level meetings with the Liberal Democrats to discuss just about everything you could possibly imagine - transport, our milestones, business opportunities, the future of sports like rugby and darts, how the IOC works, and our plans like the launch of our 'Get Set' education programme and Open Weekend at the end of the month to celebrate the launch of the Cultural Olympiad.
All the work built up to two big events - an 'Ask 2012' fringe meeting and a post-beijing reception - broadening our contact through the party, which is essential for us to talk with everyone from MPs to local councillors. There was also the obligatory 'sparkle' provided by Olympians like Jonathan Edwards, former party leader Rt Hon Menzies Campbell MP, Beijing gold medal-winning sailor Andrew Simpson and Simon Clegg - Chef de Mission for Team GB.
From Beijing to Bournemouth, the level of interest in London 2012 has been huge. As party conference afficianados roll on for the next fortnight, the 'Beijing bounce' should mean that Labour delegates in Manchester and Conservatives in Bournemouth are just as focused on London 2012. Public and political support will be crucial to our success in less than four years' time.
