Facilities for press at the Games
Gavin, Comms team
I've been based at the Main Press Centre (MPC) in Beijing for the past six weeks - through the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. We're here dealing with any press enquries - both about the London 2012 Handover segments in Beijing and questions the media

A plan of the centre:

There's a huge room where reporters can sit and file their stories, as well as get information about the sports, timetable of events, etc - both online and in printed form.

There's a large main press conference room (you can just see translation booths at the front on the left):

as well as various smaller ones.

There's a library which includes newspapers from around the world:

There are also shelves where countries can leave information they think the press might be interested in - here's a guide to Olympic sport in Switzerland...the Swiss place the Birds Nest in a slightly different setting:

With journalists spending many hours here, the Beijing 2008 Organising Committee (BOCOG) have gone to an amazing effort to make a pleasant, and well-branded environment - from ceiling....
