The result was a collage of sounds and voices in all kinds of different languages, overlapping and woven together in the space. Opposite this was a printed, typographic graph, showing the word citizenship written in the top thirty three most spoken languages in the capital, each word’s size, proportional to its usage.
For me, working on this exhibition was really good fun. The brief was interesting and dynamic, and I think the work we produced was exiting and hopefully informative for the people attending the show. The team at LOCOG were always very helpful and they made the whole experience really easy and enjoyable.
I think that LOCOG’s education programme is a really good thing. The Games are inspirational for so many reasons, and not just for the athletes. The values and lessons people learn when training and competing for the Games, can be translated to almost all aspects of life for everyone. So to get as many people involved as possible in the build up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, especially young people, is a really honourable and positive thing to have been a part of.
