Hi I'm Phil, I'm here with the London 2012 Parklands Team at the Chelsea Flower Show and we're here to talk to the members visiting and the public to encourage them to take part in the Great British Gardens Competition.
You probably hear that I'm not British obviously, I'm German, but even more so I guess when as a foreigner there's something so famous about the British garden.
How big are we talking about?
About quarter of an acre.
OK, let me picture that in my head.
Lets say roughly about quarter of a football pitch.
I think if it's going to be British it should have a lot of native British plants in it.
It will be nice to have a little bit of modern architecture somewhere in there.
You've got such a multi-ethnic society in London, I just think it's really important to leave something for children after the Games have gone.
The competition is not looking for fantastic designs in the sense of drawingas or great artistry. What we're looking for are ideas, concepts which sum up what in your opinion is the Great British Garden.
We're creating 100 acres of new Parkland here. It's so different to what was there before it in terms of the industrial environment that existed before.
The Park is going to be a very festive, active space during Games, and indeed the intention is that that carries on after Games. It'll have a very sustainable approach to planting and landscape, and this competition winning garden will sit within this Park.
How do I go about it?
Well you just take the form. You just have to have it ready by the 31 July - there's plenty of time.
Fabulous!
