With a team of about 50 people (and growing!), dozens of stakeholders, 12 major project areas - covering heavy rail to cycling - and a £852m budget, we must have top processes in place to deliver our transport objectives. Over the past few months, the ODA
Using this system will help us to respond better to our stakeholders’ needs and to continuously improve. It will also boost information sharing and understanding between the different work streams within the team through better understanding and control of everything we do – from meeting notes to procurement details.
We have already used our QMS to carry out a survey of our transport stakeholders, where we asked them to tell us how we can improve and what we already do well. We have also created a mechanism for the team to use to suggest better ways of getting the job done.
To get our certification, Clare Springett and Birgit Filby led a team of ‘quality champions’, who helped to train the rest of the team on how to use the QMS. An external auditor, David Neal from Lloyds register, then assessed us on 11 different processes and said we were right on track! Thanks to the team who worked so hard on this and for making sure we keep moving forward.
