There was a wide range of dance styles to watch and take part in, including traditional South African tribal dance from Mighty Zulu Nation; passionate performances from Viva Flamenco; daring aerial acrobatics from Arabesque; an eye-catching spectacle featuring vast, swirling slinkies performed by Bedlam Oz; and intoxicating Latin rhythms from Omar Puente and Cubania, always guaranteed to get toes tapping. This was carnival atmosphere at it's best...
Local talent was strongly represented on stage with specially choreographed pieces by local young people working with the Dance for Life project; FreshJive who presented their acclaimed under 18's breakdancing contests set to break beats from Waxworks; and showcase performances from Dance United, DM Academy and Kala Sangam.

The weekend marked the start of the Cultural Olympiad, a four-year period of cultural activity to celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic spirit across the UK, showcasing arts and culture in the run up to the London Games in 2012.
