All bedecked with Christmassy Santa hats their choir of young pupils sang Christmas carols and other favourites with infectious gusto while others (the 'Movers'), dressed in brightly coloured leggings, performed a variety of dance routines to the music – all brilliantly choreographed by their talented teacher, strongly influenced by Michael Jackson!
All this week, before they break for the school holidays the choir and the Movers are taking their singing and dancing to community centres in Newham. They fund these visits entirely by themselves and we hope the contributions from our staff – who so enjoyed their performance here – will help them to buy the microphones they wish for to make them sound even better for 2010.
The London 2012 Organising Committee donated a guitar to Maryland School as a thank you for bringing their lovely, lively Christmas music and dance to London 2012, and providing another welcome link to the Cultural Olympiad.
