Before Martin and his small team consider any creative solutions, or begin to select the creative team, we need to build the foundation of our expectations, aspirations and ambitions.
The groups are drawn from a vast range of backgrounds – people from the arts, entertainment, advertising, sport, heritage, media and much more. There are special groups just for young people who will be particularly valuable in shaping the plans as they did for London’s successful bid for the Games in the first place.
Running for the next couple of months, this is probably the most extensive consultation there has been for a Games Ceremony programme, and we believe it is a fundamental building block before we can engage some of the UK's greatest and most creative minds to turn ambition into action and then into the kind of Ceremonies in 2012 that make us all proud.
