Many memories, many reflections and perhaps one very special guest at the birthday table, a commercial partner who has been on the journey from the outset: BT.
When I was on the Paralympic swimming team in the late 1980s and 1990s, it was BT who funded much of our activity, BT who sponsored our national championships and BT who backed us to go and win gold for Great Britain around the World.
Winning the right to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London in 2012 has thrown the most fantastic of opportunities the way of Paralympic sport. We have the chance to engage an entire generation with the sports, the Paralympic values and to challenge everyone, regardless of perceived ability, to push beyond their personal best.
BT have certainly understood the Paralympic value of determination: sponsoring the team when others did not, providing a platform for Paralympians and the Paralympic movement right from the outset.
BT's continued commitment to the BPA, routed through their sponsorship of London 2012 marked the next significant step in their Paralympic collaberation.
But there's more - oh yes. BT are announcing today a commitment to the British Paralympic team stretching to beyond Rio in 2016 - the first commercial partner to make such a solid promise. This is real legacy stuff, the fact that, long after London 2012, Paralympic sport will continue to have strong support, the potential to produce the goods at Sochi, Rio and beyond and, taking the initials of the sponsor - the ability to Be Top.
