One of the striking things about life at the London 2012 Organising Committee is the diversity of daily life. We have always worked on the assumption that culture and education form a core part of our role alongside staging world class events for athletes

Almost as lifelike as the horses I watched competing in the Cross Country in Hong Kong a fortnight ago, it is not just an example of great design but of the links between culture and the sheer physicality of Olympic sports like Equestrianism. 

At LOCOG we are determined that London 2012 will be everyone's Games and the Cultural Olympiad will help to break down some of the artificial division between culture and sport and expand opportunities into different aspects of life.
