Working in Partnership with the Youth Sport Trust, the Sport Week runs from 29 June – 3 July 2009 and we want as many schools as possible to register to take part. It really is a case of the more the merrier! Schools can register in a couple of minutes on www.schoolsportweek.org.
We're writing to all schools in England & Wales at the moment asking them to take part. If you're in Scotland or have connections to an independent school, any school can register and take part in whatever way they like - the highlight of the activity doesn’t even have to take place between 29 June and 3 July - that's down to the school!
When schools register they'll receive; a teacher planning pack – to help plan activity and an activation pack full of pledge cards for pupils, badges, stickers and certificates of achievement, all to encourage pupils to take part. Visit www.schoolsportweek.org for all the details.
Schools that register early will have the chance to get a visit from an Olympian and our London 1948 Olympic Torch – little slices of Games history in their own school.
So whether you're a parent of a child at school, a governor, PTA member, or a pupil yourself, we'd encourage your school to sign up to take part. All you need to do is ask a teacher, ideally the head, deputy head, or head of PE, to visit www.schoolsportweek.org and register.
What will you be doing this summer to be part of the Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week?
