Abdul, work experience
A week of inspiration
Abdul, work experience
I am 16 years old I study in a sixth-form called Thomas Tallis which is located in Kidbrooke (SE3). I study Business and Maths. As a part of the business course, every student had to do work experience. I chose the London Organising Committee of the Olymp

I also went on a site tour: I went inside the Olympic Park and we were given loads of information about it. Everyone was working really hard to make the Olympic Park amazing. I am really excited and I cannot wait until the Park is completed - even though there was lots of construction going on and you cannot tell what is what, I used my imagination of what it will be like and it’s really exciting. Going inside the Park was great – I was inside the venue for the world’s biggest event.

The next day I was in the Operations department. I did a roadmap for the tasks to be done by LOCOG and ODA from each department in the remaining months of 2008. And today, I’m with Human & Resources department.

I want the time to go slow because it’s my last day. I wish my work experience was longer. The atmosphere is so great. Everyone in this place has great character, and everyone is working really hard to make London 2012 the best event in the world and to give everyone in UK great time, taking part in some way. I have really enjoyed my work experience and I’ve gained a lot. I hope I will play a role in London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games as a staff but more likely as an athlete. I am really looking forward to the Games.
