A very positive afternoon launching the Business Network in Scotland
Angela, Nations and Regions team
Yesterday we were in Glasgow for the launch of the London 2012 Business Network in Scotland. It's a couple of years since I've been to Hampden stadium and it was good to see that the Millennium Lottery funding logo is still shining bright. We've launched

Jonathan Edwards - our newly-appointed Deputy Chair of the Nations and Regions Group - then explained the potential sporting and social benefits from the London 2012 Games, as well as the economic opportunities, right across the UK. He also spoke passionately about the power of sport to change lives.

After that, Rob from the ODA talked about the practicalities of registering for business through the Business Network. Most of the contracts so far have gone to businesses outside of London and to small- and medium-sized companies, which often seems to surprise people.

A representative of government from Whitehall talked about the lasting legacy from the Games. And finally Lisa from Lloyds TSB told us what motivated them to sponsor the Games.

So a full-on afternoon! When you're part of organising events such as these though you do wonder how useful they are to the businesses involved. Which is exactly what the MC asked at the end...thankfully everyone stuck their hand in the air in a resoundingly positive response to his question!
