Fortunately, I was not answering the questions myself, merely observing along with the watch full eye of reporters and other members of the public. The questions spanned a wide range of often very detailed issues, including the budget, specific plans for the venues, how we’ll handle the important sustainability issues that the Games raise, how and when people can volunteer, and the businss and skills agenda for the local community. It has to be said they were handled very well - even if I can safely say I would not like to have been in the hot seat myself (well, at least not quite so early in to my time at 2012).
My overall reaction to the event - and the reaction I hope others took away with them - is that our Games are part of the solution to a range of important issues in London – regenerating the East End of the city, the improvement of sports facilities, the involvement of volunteers - that have gone on for far too long in London.
