The Olympic Stadium is ahead of schedule and is really on its way, it’s huge (you can see it from Canary Wharf) and even though it looks like it’s halfway through construction you can really picture what it will look like when it’s finished. The Aquatics Centre has also begun construction, and you can already see the formation of the roof; and the footprint for the Velodrome has just been laid. I hadn’t heard of the Stratford City shopping development, which is next to the Olympic Park, but it’s certainly impressive, and the fact that it’s going to bigger than the new shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush is definitely going to benefit east London.
Our guide also told us lots about what will happen after the Games. It’s great to hear that the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) are planning as far ahead as 2030 regarding the benefits of the Games to the UK. This will include the building of schools and sports academies on site, alongside the permanent venues.
To top that all off we got photos with Kelly in front of the Stadium and a 2012 badge!! I couldn’t have asked for a better day out!!
