A first step on the journey to 2012

I’m not going to tell you about what’s happening next year or in four years’ time, but later this month, when the Cultural Olympiad actually begins. As a first step on our journey to the 2012 Games we are planning an Open Weekend on a grand scale. Drawing

During Open Weekend, 26-28 September, there will events in venues including museums, arts centres, libraries, castles, art studios, theatres, galleries, stately homes, radio studios and outdoor public spaces. There will be exceptional opportunities to get behind the scenes in some of this country’s creative institutions, walks and picnics, music and storytelling and much more – and all this will open our eyes to what actually goes on day by day, week by week, out there in the wider arts community. A vivid reminder of the power of our cultural life that we are so fortunate to enjoy in this country and that we want to see shared even more widely across the four years.

So, I hope you and your families will join us, wherever you are. And people can find all the details of the events on the event listings [link to event listings] here on the London 2012 website. Whether you are in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or England, there will be something for everyone!
