2011 was a spectacular year for Paralympic sport, getting off to a great start with the IPC World Athletics Championships in Christchurch. In late early July the European Swimming Championships took place in Berlin, and we then moved onto the Parapan American Games in Guadalajara. It's not only been about the actual sport, but also the great people – and this combination makes me proud to go and see Paralympic sport.

Games coming home

I think 2012 could be the biggest ever year for Paralympic sport. We have had some tremendous recent Games in Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004, and then arguably the greatest Games ever in Beijing four years ago, but London has learnt from all these experiences. It is the home of Paralympic sport; it's where it all started at Stoke Mandeville back in the late forties, so the Games are coming home.
The level of competition and the standards have never been higher. The number of countries that want to be top dog is incredible. I am not sure if anyone will knock China off the top of the medal table in London, but there are a lot of countries going to have a go.
We are going to have more countries competing than ever before, so many records are going to be broken.
Even before the athletes start competing, there is going to be fabulous Games; there's so much for people to see and do in London. Like everyone else, I'm really enthusiastic and can't wait for the summer!
