Construction is now complete on the Olympic Stadium's roof covering. A total of 45,000m² of material was fitted by a team of 23 expert abseilers. Not a job for the faint hearted!

From the heart of the Olympic Park, The National Lottery launched its London 2012 hot air balloon, which will embark on a nationwide tour this summer. The hot air balloon took its first tethered flight with Olympic canoeing gold medallist, Tim Brabants, Olympic gymnastics bronze medallist, Louis Smith and Olympic 400m hurdles bronze medallist, Tasha Danvers on board.

To launch the start of Open Weekend 2010, Olympic Triple Jump champion, Jonathan Edwards, faced 19-year-old British table-tennis pro, Darius Knight, at Tate Modern in the most challenging ping-pong match ever.

To celebrate two years to go to the start of the London 2012 Games, Royal Mail has launched a new range of Olympic and Paralympic stamps. My favourite is the one for cycling. Each of the stamps has been designed by a different contemporary artist.
