A recipe for Sitting Volleyball Success

What do you get when you mix the following: 5 Londoners, 3 Surrey boys, one Midlander and a guy from Wales?

The answer is the Men’s Great Britain Sitting Volleyball team. A squad of 12 players united in their goal for Paralympic success who are currently competing for the first time in the World Sitting Volleyball Championships (www.2010worlds.com) in Oklahoma.

With disabilities including double amputees, spina bifida, foot deformity, polio, ruptured ACL and congenital femoral dysplasia the team are united in one goal – training hard and performing on the highest stage at the Paralympics 2012.

This week I have the privilege of joining both the GB Men’s and Women’s teams and meeting with the World Organisation for Sitting Volleyball (WOVD) at the World Championships in Oklahoma to share knowledge and update them on our progress towards 2012.

You can watch the World Championships live on http://www.ustream.tv/channel/worlds-testing or follow the GB teams’ personal blog http://www.volleyballengland.org/Sitting_Volleyball/worldsblog.php

Watch this space for interviews with the players, coaches and referees on the sport and London 2012.
